Afterward, they spent three years together, in hiding, away from everything there was. Calie didn't sit around and twiddle her thumb for three years, she had a friend to look for in Bertholdt, not to mention to Colossal Titan.
She had to bring him back by any means necessary.

Armin lives in a seemingly endless forest. He couldn't actually prove it was endless, not with her around.
That gigantic woman whose piercing blue eyes seemed fixed finding him. Armin knew she was dangerous, he knew she likely killed his parents, he knew he would be safe in his house away from her. His parents even left him a nice book about the outside world before they died, he could read that over and over again until he died.
That sort of life was more than depressing, but staying alive, staying away from her was what mattered.

Summary
Divided powers make for a weaker conglomerate. For the Tybur, Yeager and Finger families, that meant ceding power to the Marleyans and having them run the country, but being second in command to the world's first superpower made it a fine deal.
Against Marley's behest, their empire deteriorated, mostly due to decades of noncompliance from the Yeager family alongside the Tybur's outright refusal to lending their Titan to the military. A young Zeke Yeager came up with the brilliant idea of invading Paradis for its resources and of course, the Founding Titan. A mission so easy that for the first time in a century, the Tyburs lent the military their Titan, and though she may be no Tybur, she should be a fine addition to the Warrior Unit.

An AOT rewrite where the War Hammer was sent to Paradis with Reiner, Annie, Bertholdt and Marcel, amongst a few other changes to canon.

It’s a kind of ritual now- the nights when it’s closer to dawn than sunset, signaling that they’d worked through the night, Valentina sprawls out on the couch in her office while Mel flits around like a hummingbird, taking care of odds and ends.
Valentina watches her young assistant with sharp eyes as she slowly drains whatever liquor of choice is in her glass until she clears her throat. Automatically, Mel stops what she’s doing, shoulders tensing on instinct, and Valentina hides her smirk. Mel turns, folders still in hand as she faces Valentina, and in turn Valentina lets her eyes wander down the length of Mel’s body.
“I think that’s enough for tonight,” Valentina says, voice edging in a command, and Mel nods obediently- sets the folders down on Valentina’s desk, and once her hands are free, they tremble slightly. “Sit.”
