Face was joking. Murdock, for all infinitude of things he didn’t understand, understood jokes. But the laughter got stuck in his throat like a wishbone and his stomach did a funny flip- kind of like it had done moments before, kind of like flying.
“Well,” he chuckled, but it wasn’t really real, “it’d be real bad manners to slap your pilot, now.”

After a fight with his father, Adrien lands on Nino's doorstep. Well, metaphorical doorstep; it's more like a ledge.

Adrien smiles as he eats breakfast with Nathalie, smiles as he walks through the halls of his new lycée, smiles as people stop him on the street and tell him time and time again what a "hero" his father was.
(Adrien wishes he could've been a hero, too. He should've been. Maybe then his father would still be alive.)
(But he's surviving. Everyone may be treating him as though he were made of glass, but he can still go through the motions, he can prove them wrong, he can still smile.)
“And you’re… happy,” Marinette spoke carefully, a nervous tilt to her voice, “... right?”

Summary
When Azula is nine, she becomes an only child. She hears the Fire Lord call for Zuko's life, and in the morning, her mother and brother are gone. Azula may be young, but she isn't naive. She knows what happened to them.
Which makes it all the more surprising when Azula tracks the Avatar down and fights his group of peasant friends, only to find herself staring into an eerily familiar face.

Summary
After the war, Toph has nightmares. The screeching of metal, Sokka and Suki's screams, the snap of Sokka's leg as it broke from their fall. It's usually his confession that they aren't going to make it that makes her wake up in a cold sweat. She's anxious all the time now, unable to find peaceful sleep.
The cure is apparently to hold hands with her friends for all hours of the day and hope that they're cool with it.
