Black spots dotted his vision. Dying here wouldn’t be so bad— Maddie and Daniel would be sad, would probably avenge his death but he knew that his father would sooner whip him for getting caught in the first place— he had nothing to live for.
Except.
Chris was gripping the back of his shirt like his life depended on it and Buck just couldn’t stomach the thought of the boy dying in his arms. So, he kept going, kept running until his legs felt like jelly and his arms felt like they were falling out of their sockets.
Perhaps Buck's fate was doomed the moment he decided to rescue Christopher Diaz from his cruel brother-in-law, had been decided the moment Eddie Diaz's gaze fell onto him-- caught in the man's webs. Eddie has no idea how to cope when a temporary case of amnesia causes the return of Buck 1.0. Buck has no clue why his future self hasn't made the moves on his hot best friend. It all goes pretty well, considering.

Summary
When Buck is hurt on the job in 2022, he gets temporary amnesia, believing himself to be back in 2018 shortly after the earthquake call. Waking up in the hospital to the news that his sister has stayed in LA, Abby is gone, and he's apparently best friends with the army vet he couldn't stand at first, Buck struggles to gain his footing back into his life as his memory comes back to him. Meanwhile, Eddie is acting strange and there are too many unknown scars across his body. While the amnesia is temporary, perhaps what he learns from a brief fresh start won't be.
