A loud crash is all the warning that Jayce gets before the Machine Herald floats through his window. It's quite late, and there's nobody else around in the lab. That would make it easier, Jayce thinks. Less collateral damage. Good timing, too. Jayce had just completed the finishing touches on his latest mini-project.
Though… It's really a shame about the window.
"You could just use the door, Herald."
The Machine Herald stares back at him, soulless and wholly unrepentant. "I am here for the—"
"Yes, yes," Jayce mutters. "The Hexgems. I know."
He hefts his hammer up, leveling it at his nemesis. The corner of his mouth turns up in a smile— a small, fierce thing.
"Well? You know how this goes. Come and take them, if you can."

Viktor had suddenly shown up at Jayce’s place with a map detailing the exact location of the chem-baron’s secret labs, and as Jayce took the bait, Viktor had handed it over with a simple “this will cost you”. Later, as Jayce had invited himself into Viktor’s house, Viktor had told him to get down under the desk because he had other things to do (besides doing Jayce), and Jayce had opened Viktor’s trousers.
