Hob has never been interested in finding out who his Stranger is, not when it would ruin the anticipation of waiting for him to tell him himself, but after he disappears he can’t help but worry enough to begin to put out feelers. Even if he had missed their meeting out of petty spite, Hob needed to know for sure, and he was prepared to suffer through another tense argument if that's what it takes to know his friend is safe.
He was not expecting to be kidnapped by a cult worshiping someone called the King Of Dreams, strapped to a table to be sacrificed, and then promptly declared their leader when they found out he couldn’t die.
Oh, and apparently he’s now in charge of a rescue mission.
