A photographer comes to Arsenal training twice a week, the day before games. Leah knows this. Has even said ‘hi’ to the man before walking onto the training pitch. Has forgotten about his presence immediately after, so she doesn’t know why she’s surprised at all, when Arsenal drops the photos in the evening with the usual pre-game article, and she finds one of herself just staring at Alessia, with what can only be described as a lovesick expression. They are photographed from the side, Alessia with the ball at her feet, looking down, and Leah, well, looking at Alessia, with eyes crinkled in a smile, soft. Softer than she’s ever seen herself.
