Those had been the words of the messenger who had tracked Jaskier down at the inn, sent by the alderman. Jaskier had been prepared to go out into the rain and find a soggy, grumpy witcher. But “a right state” didn’t even begin to cover it.

Summary
“Jaskier,” Geralt says. “How are you feeling?”
He thinks about it. He’s cold, still, from the river. A bit hungry. He’s annoyed the bauk got away. He can taste the coming rain in the air, hear Geralt’s heavy, panicky breathing. He shrugs.
“Oh, fuck,” Geralt says, “this is bad, this is really bad.”
A thought swims slowly to the surface of Jaskier’s brain. “Am I… am I you?”
Geralt’s brown eyes blink miserably at him. “I think I’m human,” he says. “So that must make you the witcher.”
After the mountain, a journey through the woods forces Jaskier and Geralt to appreciate each others’ point of view – if they can survive the experience.

Summary
The life Julian always wanted isn't the one he's living, and he's going to have to accept that. He's done plenty well for himself as one of the youngest-ever professors at Oxenfurt Academy. He has friends, even if they've all moved away. A family he loves, even if he doesn't keep in touch. And if the crowds are underwhelmed when he dresses up and calls himself the bard Jaskier, it's only because that life wasn't meant to be his.
There's no reason for him to doubt this--at least not until his future at the Academy is suddenly up in the air, students start dying in the night, and the Butcher of Blaviken comes to town.

After a contract hunting a mage goes awry, Geralt finds himself cursed with sickness, bubbling beneath his skin like a plague. It’s easy enough not to touch anyone - not to pass it on - until he meets Jaskier on the Path.

It’s happened before: Jaskier cursed by a past lover to experience for himself the ache of unrequited love. Once, memorably, for a donkey, who was impervious to all the bard’s serenades and compliments, and shat on his favourite pair of boots. The irony of today’s particular curse is that Jaskier’s ‘love’ isn’t actually unrequited. Presumably, though, Lady Freckletits and her sister thought it would be funny to see Jaskier scorned and rejected by the stoic, emotionless witcher he insists on following around.

“Have you seen Geralt this morning?”
“Who?” the man asked, perplexed.
“Geralt, the witcher,” Jaskier elaborated.
“We haven’t seen any witchers,” the man looked genuinely puzzled.
“I arrived with him yesterday. He took care of your nekker problem.”
“Nekker problem?” Was the man daft? “It was just you who came in yesterday. With your horse. Are you feeling alright, Master Bard?” The man had the audacity to look at Jaskier as if he was the mad one.
When Geralt disappears after an argument, no one in the small village they're in seems to remember him. Except Jaskier and an old woman with a chilling secret.
Someone always disappears at this time of year, and no one remembers they ever existed in the morning. The Fair Folk steal them away and they are never seen again.
Until now. Jaskier refuses to leave Geralt to his fate. He will get him back.

Summary
Geralt runs into Jaskier a year or so after they parted due to perhaps, Geralt overreacting during a stressful time. He hadn't expected Jaskier to actually leave. Ciri is wintering with Yennefer and it has perhaps been a bit lean for Geralt. And it seems Jaskier has thrived. Good for him. Geralt is sure this brief encounter is all that will occur and he'll move on, alone like usual.
But to his surprise Jaskier joins him once more. Only whenever they are in a village, Jaskier always buys them the best room, hot baths, Geralt has new armor, and once was given coin to go buy those 'pretty stabby things you were drooling over in the window.' He had snarled, but then bought them. They were really nice daggers.
Geralt really wishes he could figure out what was going on. And why all the care feels rather not bad. Not bad at all.
