Nothing was trash to Rudo. Every item is important and he'd fix all of them if he could. How was he supposed to know that they seemed to care about him, too?

Summary
Kokushibou has been Muzan's loyal servant for centuries. That was the way things were meant to be. Until it all changed.
Kokushibou had been walking through a forest for a while when it happened. A baby’s cry, but instead of coming from the forest, it seemed to come from inside his own head. It was faint, as if its cry came from far away but directly into his mind. For a moment, he thought it was his Master's doing, but what could be the meaning of that? What could Master gain from it?

Summary
“You were lucky to survive that storm. Heard all about it in the news coo after it struck, how bad it was.”
Discussing it makes the stub of his leg itch. “I’ve sailed through far worse.”
It’s ironic, and another thought that’s hung around his mind like a bad smell, to return to the East Blue from the Grand Line, to trade a notoriously tricky sea for a simpler one, and then to lose his crew to home waters.
“Your son is lucky then,” the captain adds. Zeff blanches. Little surprises him, but at that Zeff nearly chokes.
“He’s not my son,” he sputters.
~
Sanji has never had a home or a dad before the Baratie. Zeff is figuring that out for himself.

Summary
"My captain- my previous one, that is- well, he was much the same."
"Previous one," repeats Rayleigh pensively, and then, just a little more gently, "I'm sorry."
"Thank you," answers Brook in kind, calm and composed, reaching out to refill the cup of tea he must have finished at some point. "Ah- it was a long time ago."
Rayleigh tilts his head, thoughtful. The artificial, harsh lightning of the room makes the scar on his eye stand out much more than it did in the middle of Sabaody's bubbles; Brook wonders how he got it, and when, and ponders how strange it is for him to miss his own scars, even fifty years after losing them.
"A long time ago," echoes Rayleigh, and it feels like this is all this conversation is made of: echoes, too similar to be surprising and too different to be painless.(or: in which Rayleigh talks with Brook, and Brook wonders about Rayleigh, and they both miss their crew so, so much.)
