Summary
Buck is a lot. Eddie knows Buck is a lot. Buck knows Buck is a lot.
But every single person who ever said that to Buck said it like a warning. Like a disclaimer, a heads-up, a you-should-know-what-you're-getting-into before getting too close so they can't say they weren't told.
And Eddie has never, not once, wanted Buck to be less.
The surplus, the overflow, the fourth tangent on a story that started somewhere else entirely — that's not the price of Buck. That is Buck. And more of Buck has only ever meant more to love, and Eddie spent enough years running on empty to know what it means when someone fills up every room they walk into so completely that Eddie is overflowing with it most days.
"Eddie. Are you listening?"
Eddie nods. "Gym Katie is alone at the gym and she's upset."
Buck blinks. His mouth is still open from the sentence he was about to say, his hands still mid-gesture, and he looks genuinely thrown, like he expected to catch Eddie zoning out and instead got caught himself. Caught being heard.
"You were listening," Buck says, a little breathlessly.
Eddie smiles. "I'm always listening."
Or,
Eddie finds beauty in the mundane.Bookmarked by MaryElizabeth2602

Summary
“Your name is Buck?” Eddie asks, watching as Buck carefully nodded “My boyfriend’s name is also Buck.”
“Oh,” Buck sighs as he carefully lifts Eddie. “How— hum, What is he like?”
“Oh,” Eddie’s face lights up instantly “Buck is the best boyfriend in the world!” He adds with a warm smile “He’s kind, and he’s funny, and he’s smart, and he’s so beautiful. I swear to God, he’s the most beautiful man on earth.”
“Oh yeah?” Buck asks softly, a discreet blush growing on his face.
“Buck, stop fishing for compliments,” Hen mutters as they load into the ambulance.
“He wants to tell me about his amazing boyfriend Buck, just let him."
“You’re taking advantage of a concussed man,” Hen retorts.
“He’s keeping him alert,”
Or, Eddie has a concussion, and he can't recognize Buck.

Summary
“On the other side of this,” Eddie whispers. “Maybe we can try it.”
“Hm, okay,” Buck hums, apparently awake, but barely. “What are we tryin’?”
“I know now isn’t the right time. I’m not - - we’re not ready. But this next bit isn’t going to be pretty. It’s going to be hard. And I need you to know, so you have something to hold on to. So that I don’t forget what it feels like. What it felt like. We could - - we could try.”
Or, after the kidnapping, Buck goes through it. Eddie goes through it with him.

Summary
“What does that feel like?” Eddie asks quietly.
Buck lets out a thin breath. “Like everything’s happening at a distance.”
Eddie doesn’t interrupt.
Buck stares at the blanket in his lap. “Like I know I’m here. I know this is me. I know I’m in this room with you.” He swallows. “But it’s like… there should be more of me in here than there is.”
Jesus.
Eddie looks down at his own hands because if he keeps staring at Buck’s face, he might get up and cross the room and do something neither of them is ready for.
Or an extended version of "Mother's Boy"
