She had told him suicide was a sin. She had told him that God would not give them more than they can bear, that one day they would go to heaven and feel His love. He found her in the river one day. His father said she slipped. He knew she did not. He prayed for her soul anyway.

He remembers the childish joy he had felt as he raced alongside his friends to battle the ender dragon and he remembers the cold that enveloped him when he had found himself alone. But it didn't matter. His friends were his to protect, which was why when those Gods stood before him, hand outstretched, asking him to trade his freedom for their safety, he accepted in a heartbeat.

Summary
What if the 7B version of the brothers existed in the Magnus Archives Universe?
Don't really need too much knowledge of the Magnus Archives, just that there are roughly 14 fears, who feed on the fear of living creatures.
Ezra serves the Lonely, aka the fear of being isolated, cut off, forsaken, etc.
A Lukas family are a very wealthy family who serve the lonely, and you can probably see where this fits with Ezra and Maude.

A clear, sunny day greets them when they step through the portal. The sky is a brilliant blue, a stark contrast to the dreadful grey and black that the crew had grown used to in the Black Sea, with faint wisps of white clouds dotting the open expanse. Birds cry and cartwheel freely above them, seagulls and osprey and sandpipers. Sunlight pours down on them from its midday position, warm and bright and nearly golden where it reflects off the sand and the waves. The waving blades of beach grass leading up to the hills of this island are lit up with fuzzy haloes that flicker as they move. Bugs chirp and buzz in cacophonous song, hidden in the living yellow grass.
It’s beautiful, and Chip gets to enjoy it for all of about six seconds.

'All he can do is stare blankly, but not the kind of blank as everyone else, as Rachel lets go of his hand with an excited shout and charges forward to the waiting embrace of their – their, God it’s their again – mother. To the tearstained, alive body of his–their mother, who somehow survived all this shit and is just as blank-eyed as everyone else and needing no explanation to why her daughter is the same age when she disappeared and alive.
All he can do is stand stupidly on the sidewalk and watch, disconnected, as his parents get their daughter back after the most horrifying 24 hours of Rand’s life that they’ll never know about. Stand and watch as his mother ignores the gore and viscera everywhere in favour of hugging her long-lost daughter and doesn’t even comment when Rand hangs back and shoves his hands in his pockets.
All he can do is exist and breathe and wonder, idly, that if he goes to sleep now he’ll wake up to Kian and Rolan shouting over him as they head into Arizona.'
