Summary
The very first time, Margo had been worried about it, a little bit. Not about the sex itself, that had been great - but the decision to grab the camera had been spontaneous, Margo scrambling for her phone with Quentin’s head between her legs and Eliot pressed all along her back.

Summary
"You came to the edge of Time and Night, at the borders of oblivion, to offer me the chance to undo my death and return to life?"
"Before I answer that question, I want to know if you're about to call me an idiot."
"I cannot swear that I am not," Dream says, with the faintest hint of a smile. "Even for you, Hob, this is dangerous. More than you understand. And yet," he adds before Hob can formulate a defence, "I am. Honoured. You should not have come, but..."
"But you're kind of glad I did, aren't you?"
(Hob Gadling attends the funeral of the King of Dreams. But that isn't where the story ends. It's only where it begins.)

Summary
Hob takes in a breath for patience. “Fine. What’s the P-L-O-T device, and how did it get us from ancient cthulhu to—” He waggles his fingers over Dream, who is still sucking contentedly on his blanket. “—calamari?”

Summary
"Hob," Dream says suddenly, and his voice has changed. "Do you remember your parents? Were they... were they kind?"
Oh.
The question is so unexpected that it catches somewhere around his solar plexus like a blow. Hob is struck, suddenly, by twin memories that fit together like discordant notes in a song: a hand running soft and gentle through his hair, and a voice raised in fury.
A cold thread twists and twines its way between his ribs. He cannot help remembering what Lucienne said to him that terrible night when he found out Dream was dead.
Not all parents love their children.
(Dream and Hob settle into their new lives. There is pain that they cannot help but bring with them, but there is also healing, and there is hope.)
