Summary
Eight years after a hunt with John and Bobby that ended in disaster, Sam and Dean return to Johnston, Iowa for what looks to be a simple job. It isn't long before they realize that things are not always what they seem, and it's not so easy to escape a horror that refuses to stay dead. Summary
It's a cold, empty cave. Scar is sitting next to a stalagmite, leaning on it, his back to Grian. He's hunched in on himself, carefully placing torches around.
"Scar," Grian says, and his voice echoes through the dark. Scar doesn't twitch.
"Hello, Grian," he says, not moving to look at him. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"
"What are you doing here?" Grian asks. The silence is loud here, reverberating across the room. "Did you burn down my base, Scar."
This time, Scar does turn to look at him, barely a shift of the head that lets Grian see half of his face. There's something dangerous in his eyes.
"You didn't need it anymore," Scar says, and Grian stammers.
"I—what do you mean, I didn't need it? It's my base! It's our base, even! What's gotten into you, Scar?"
Scar scoffs. Grian hasn't heard a sound like that come from him in ages.
"Sure," Scar says, mocking. "Our base." He turns back around. "Just leave me alone, Grian, and go play house with your new little soulmate."

In the end, after Joel finished explaining, Scar was left with more questions than answers, but three things were apparent to him.
One, he had developed a condition in which flowers were rooted in his chest, and it was called Hanahaki Disease.
Two, it was caused by unrequited love, and often was fatal.
And three…
Scar hacked up another petal, and the scent of roses fogged up his mind, making it difficult to think clearly.
Grian was the one he had fallen for.
