She couldn't help but feel drawn to this woman - a woman she divorced two years ago.
In these years, there was nothing more to their relationship than an occasional greeting in the hallway and a brush of hands when they met each week for Vi to pick up their child to fulfil their shared custody. Yet, their eyes met across the room, drawn to each other like magnets, as if they were destined to be together.
Cait tried to get over her, tried really hard. After that stupid fallout, when their relationship didn't survive the three-year crisis after they said all this stupid shit to each other after they hurt each other so badly it looked like the damage was irreparable. Like there was no going back.
Things were complicated, and the fact that they worked at the same fucking university didn't make it any easier. It, actually, just made things terribly complicated.
They both were too stubborn to reconcile as two adults with a child, so instead of being grown-ups and actually… talking, they didn't. It started a few weeks ago when, instead of untangling their feelings, reflecting and processing, instead of yelling at each other and pouring that pain out, they made out in a janitor's closet.

Caitlyn panicked, feeling extraordinarily unprepared having been thrust into her new position without so much as even a handbook to consult. What were the formalities? What was she supposed to respond with? Where was the damn push to talk button…
“Hellooo? I said Houston, do you copy?”
Caitlyn fiddled with her headset, having finally found the green button on the side and hastily letting out a rather breathless reply. “Um, yes. Hello? This is Houston. I copy.”
There was a long pause in which Caitlyn sat twiddling her thumbs, anxiety pushing the frantic pulse of her heartbeat through her eardrums. Was that wrong? Did she already fuck up? She took a steady deep breath, finger hovering over the talk button until the familiar voice of the astronaut came through her headset once more.
“Damn, Houston. I didn’t expect you to sound so sexy.”
OR
Caitlyn has been assigned as the personal capcom to one of the astronauts currently on a year long expedition at the international space station. Cue long months of pining and desperate longing.

Caitlyn walked up to her wife as she placed the last present under the tree “Well hello there Santa Clause” she says charismatically and tugs on her wife to follow her under the doorway.
“Ah Mrs. Kiramman-Lanes lovely to see you on this fine evening."
Caitlyn glances up with a small smirk “Mistletoe, Santa you know the rules” she coos pulling down Vi’s fake beard so she could see her lips.
“Would hate to break tradition” Vi whispers as she wraps her arms around Caitlyn’s waist to pull her in closer. The large fake gut between them made their position a bit awkward but it still worked.
Caitlyn rises on her tippy toes and tugs Vi down by the back of her neck to pull her down into a searing kiss. She knock’s the hat off Vi’s head to tangle her hand through the short red locks as their tongues finally meet. But it didn’t get too far when they heard a small gasp making them split apart quickly.
“Mama why are you kissing Santa Clause?” she heard their 3-year-old daughter mumble sleepily as she rubbed her tired eyes.
