'For the first time in his life, he couldn’t feel his mother’s love. Anakin didn’t know where she was, surely she wasn’t in the Force or whatever life was after this current one, Shmi wasn’t in her grave. He couldn’t even remember the roughness of her skin, the familiar smell of her body as she hugged him back to sleep from a childhood nightmare. She was gone. That was how the Force had chosen to punish him. And what was his mother’s love, if not the love of the Force itself? Weren’t the two the same? The Force had taken Shmi from him, perhaps it was to be one of the great trials that the Jedi were always talking about - and he had responded so poorly, so heinously, he had responded with murder.
And now the Force would withhold its love and assurances. The Force had turned its face from him and it felt as though all the light and goodness had left the universe'.

Andy hadn’t planned for this. Woody wasn’t even supposed to be here.
He clutched the cowboy toy tighter, his fingers brushing against the fraying stitching on Woody’s vest. For as long as Andy could remember, Woody had been more than just a toy—he was a constant figure throughout his life, a friend. How could he just... give him away?
“There’s a snake in my boot!” Bonnie’s voice interrupted. She was pointing at the toy clutched in Andy’s hand.
“Wha—” The momentary confusion gave way to comprehension. How many times had he heard that sentence in his lifetime coming from his most special toy? Without thinking, he pulled the string tied to the toy’s voice box. And sure enough, here’s the lucky coincidence of Woody’s next line actually being: There’s a snake in my boot!
Bonnie took that as confirmation that she was now entitled to take Woody, and Andy supposed she had the right to be after all, the whole point of this visit was to give away the toys he outgrew to Bonnie. Only. . . Woody was never supposed to be a part of it.
