The family (in my mind) is Phoenix, Miles, and Trucy at the core. Apollo, Klavier, Franziska, Maya, and Gumshoe are like extended family.

"What?" the girl hisses, promptly breaking Edgeworth out of his reverie. “You don’t remember anything?!”
“I— I don’t know,” Wright stammers, wringing his wrists nervously. Miles raises an eyebrow at the unusual display of anxiety. If there’s anything he knows about his rival, it’s that Wright is a hell of an actor. The defense attorney is particularly adept at hiding his emotions, but now, he seems to struggle with it. Miles takes all of two seconds to contemplate the potential fallout that might come with interrupting their conversation, before his curiosity gets the best of him. He steps forward before he can fully grasp just what he’s getting himself into.
Phoenix Wright takes a nap in the defense lobby before his client's trial, only to wake with amnesia. The trial's prosecutor, Miles Edgeworth, is the first to notice that his rival is acting rather strange.
