Summary
The Crown Prince of the Fire Nation dies a week after he loses his first Agni Kai. There are mutterings that the Fire Lord refused to give his son and heir an opportunity to return to the Fire Nation. A boy named Li is smuggled off of an old Fire Nation ship and is delivered to an old herbalist and her not-a-real-cat cat.
Eventually whispers of a benevolent spirit arises.

Summary
“Why are you here, human?” The Spirit’s voice boomed through the space. “You’re presence is not welcomed in my domain.”
Taking a deep breathe, Zuko tried to suppress the shudder that ran through his spine at the very clear threat. Sokka had warned him over and over about the homicidal bird that guarded the ultimate source of knowledge. Uncle had tried to grill into him over the years about the need to respect the Spirits, especially while in their homes. He had finally learned that lesson when he’d come face to face with the Mother of Faces in order to bring his own mother home.
“I come only in the search of knowledge. I understand your library had been disrespected-”
“By the fire in your blood, you come from the same ilk who brought destruction to my halls. Tell me, little human, why I should not make a snack out of you were you stand.”

When looking for information about a lost culture, why not wander into the greatest library guarded by a spirit who didn't really like people very much.Series

Sokka never did get to ask more about that as wacky spirit shenanigans increased. Talks of rich folk losing valuables filled every Earth Kingdom village they’d visited. Word passed faster than ostrich-horse gossip—half in hushed tones, half in excited shrieks. A poster had been put up—hastily drawn by the looks of it—that showed a blurry blue and white masked figure with a pair of swords.
