When Bobby had arranged the camping trip, it was with a particular goal in mind, one which he had expressed to his wife early on in the planning.
“And how are you going to make that happen? They’ll get a whiff of you interfering and it’ll be game over,” Athena had commented, but despite sharing her namesake’s wit, she didn’t understand the 118 quite as well as he did.
“I don’t have to do any interfering. All I need to do is get them there, and the rest will work itself out.”
And he was right. A little too right.
Secrets are spilled and truths brought to light when the 118 and their partners go on a camping trip.

Under a much different circumstance, Eddie would have loved to have Steve’s eyes looking over him like that, would love to have that determination focused on him, but Eddie is very much dying, he knows it, so he smiles at Steve’s misplaced confidence instead, “High expectations, Stevie. Where’d you learn to swing like that anyway?”
“I’ll tell you,” Steve’s voice is a bit shaky, his tone wavering, even as he puts on a brave face, “but you have to stay alive, Munson.”
If he had more strength, he’d consider testing his luck one last time, tease Steve by asking if he swings for Eddie’s team, but- he’s tired.
Dying young. What a fucking nightmare.
Or, what if the Party defeats Vecna in time, and Eddie lives?

Summary
Buck crawled into bed beside Eddie.
On any other night, Buck would’ve kept his distance. Turned away so he and Eddie could sleep back-to-back, no pretense of being comfortable bed partners.
Tonight, Buck didn’t hesitate; he pushed into Eddie’s space. He slipped his bicep between Eddie’s neck and pillow, bending his arm at the elbow to loop it over Eddie’s shoulder and across his chest. He wrapped his other arm around Eddie’s waist, shoving his freezing fingers into the tight space between Eddie’s hip and the mattress.
Buck shifted in close until he was pressed along the entire length of Eddie’s back. He fit his legs into the right angle of Eddie’s bent knees, tangling their ankles together, chafing his socks against Eddie’s bare feet. He hugged Eddie desperately to his body. No part of them wasn’t touching.
Buck didn’t know if it was an attempt to comfort Eddie or himself. He wasn’t sure there was much of a difference.
In the aftermath of a gruesome call, Buck and Eddie search for comfort in each other.
