“Please.” He means to say it loudly, with confidence, but it comes out as nothing more than a raspy whisper. His ears are ringing painfully, and his head feels like it’s going to explode. It hurts and hurts and hurts.
“M-May,” Peter cries out to no one, feeling like a child. “Tony. Please, ‘m so tired.”
He inhales and chokes on his tears.
He can’t tell if it’s his imagination or not, but he’s pretty sure he hears a laugh.

Pepper looks up at the screen and laughs. Peter is standing at the bottom of a staircase leading to a stage, with a bunch of other people dressed as Spider-Man clustered around him.
“Ned, I don’t think I should be doing this,” Peter’s hissing to his friend.
“Of course you should be doing this! It’s a Spider-Man look alike contest! There’s no way you’re not going to win,” Ned says matter-of-factly.
