When Pearl returns from Double Life, she’s no longer the same person that went in. Gem is there, the same, unchanged. She's smiling, she's whole, and she's Gem.
When Pearl goes into Limited Life, she misses a week. She returns, and Gem is suspiciously quiet about it, but still the same. She’s still Gem.
Pearl desperately hopes Gem isn’t taken into the life series. They meet again, after Secret Life, and, well, they’ve both changed.
