    Summary

Two years after the impossible death of his friend, Dream of the Endless, immortal history professor Hob Gadling is consumed by a grief so profound it manifests as paranoia—a world suddenly filled with observing ravens and creeping shadows. Seeking a distraction from his six centuries of loneliness, Hob enters a London rare bookstore, Oneiros Books, only to come face-to-face with the dead. The proprietor, Morpheus Oneiros, is the absolute spitting image of Dream, but wears jeans and an old jumper, and is purely, maddeningly human.

    Summary

When Death makes a wager with her brother, Dream agrees to grant immortality to one mortal—Hob Gadling, a man too stubborn to die. What begins as a curiosity soon becomes something far more complicated. Through centuries of war, progress, and heartbreak, Dream returns again and again to the same tavern to find Hob still waiting.

But time has a way of changing even the Endless. Between their meetings, Dream watches from the shadows and the Dreaming itself, fascinated and infuriated by the mortal who dares to live so joyfully. As empires rise and fall and friendships deepen, the line between observation and attachment blurs.

This is the story of an immortal learning humanity, a mortal meeting eternity, and the fragile, impossible bond that threads between them—woven across dreams, centuries, and the quiet hope that one day, Dream might admit what he already knows.

    Summary

Friendship does not come to him easily..

Dream understands the general shape of it. He can see the lines of it when it draws others together. A part of him must know what it is. It is in the gentle lushness and golden light of Fiddler’s Green; it echoes when Matthew and Mervyn laugh, raucous and bright, in the library; it even shines from the warm note in Lucienne’s voice when she chides them for the noise. These are all parts of himself. Infinitesimal components of his vast entirety. This means he must know how it works.

    It has to mean that.

    Summary

Once, Dream shaped the world. Now, the world dreams of shaping him.

In the Dreaming, Nuala begins to dream of a man in a temple, a voice that speaks of Morpheus as father and fate as a circle unbroken. Her visions awaken something ancient, something that could either unmake or renew the Dreaming itself.

For even gods must face the Hour of Change. The Kindly Ones were never alone.

This is a canon-divergent, mythology-heavy slow burn that centers on Dream’s trauma, Nuala’s agency, and the cost of loving an Endless who does not believe he deserves to be chosen.

There will be spoilers for season 2's ending and for the comic ending.

    Summary

Hob Gadling has lived through six centuries of history, and he’s collected more jobs than most people can imagine—mercenary, printer, pirate, mob boss, even a rock musician for a spell. But the one role that feels like home is the one he holds now: Professor Robin Golding, Medieval History, London.

Through lectures about chimneys and buttons, cups of tea at Nina’s café, banter with colleagues, and evenings in his pub, Hob reflects on the small things that shape lives. The inventions that go unnoticed, the food that feels miraculous after centuries of hunger, the city of London itself. And underneath it all, the quiet, stubborn hope that maybe one day his Stranger will walk through the door again.

A story about teaching, eating, laughing, waiting, and living—all the little things that keep Hob going.
