Summary
Charles had braced himself for the pain. He knew that when Erik would push the coin through Shaw's head that he would inadvertently push it into his. He knew that he would feel the slow, torturous drag of metal through his skin, his brain tissue, his mind. He had even prepared for the heartbreak and the betrayal, because once Erik had put on Shaw's helmet, Charles's heart had already shattered to pieces.
But when Charles's mind was fractured by the coin, he hadn't been prepared to lose a part of himself he could not bear to live without.
Because without a mind he had no telepathy, and without telepathy, Charles was...
Human.
Or: Charles loses his telepathy after Cuba, and all the pain that follows.

Summary
Sherlock traces the pattern of the bruises under the dim light of a lamp to the right of him. It's the only light he can stand being on. They're the last traces of Victor he has left on his body. One, two, three fingers wrapped around his forearm. A bright pink bruise on the side of his neck. The last remnants of a man he hates, and loves, and despises so entirely that it makes him shake. It makes him smoke a pack a day. It makes him stomp around the flat with nothing in his head but the roaring anger, and sadness, and fear that had consumed him the entire year prior.

Sherlock hates spending Christmas with his snobby parents. John has nowhere to go over the holidays. The heat in 221B is broken and their fridge is empty. Plus, Sherlock's parents will hate John.
So of course Sherlock takes John along.

Charles is a lonely professor, genius, billionaire and serial flirt who seems to have the perfect life in everyone else's eyes. But his sister knows better. Worried for his mental well-being, Raven makes him sign up for this rather odd, but interesting, product. With nothing to lose, he agrees.

Charles helps Raven get ready for the prom. Surprisingly, that part goes well. The prom itself not so much. Erik cooks a lot of unhealthy comfort foods and is incredibly patient. Charles mostly frets about everything, until Erik does something neither he, nor Raven see coming.
