Summary
“I have to go!” Yuuri blurts out. As an assistant coach, he needs to be at Minami’s interviews, even if it is Victor of all people standing right in front of him.
“Wait—” Victor says, but Yuuri has already ducked away. “Yuri!” he hears Victor call from behind him.
Yuuri doesn’t stop. He’s made that mistake before – why would Victor Nikiforov know who Yuuri is this year any more than he did last year? Yuri Plisetsky is debuting as a senior, after all, and might be here at the Cup of China to support his rinkmates.
It may be the sound of Yuuri’s name on Victor’s lips, but there is no way Victor is calling for him.
(Canon-divergence. The Nishigori triplets never upload Yuuri's rendition of Stammi Vicino online. Yuuri buys himself time to decide whether he wants to stay on the ice or retire by joining Minami Kenjirou's team as an assistant coach.
Victor never hears from the beautiful Japanese skater after Sochi. He choreographs On Love: Eros because he can’t quite let go, but it’s getting harder to push himself on the ice and the cracks are starting to show.
Two lost individuals take a different route to find love and life, but they eventually get there all the same.)

Summary
Yuri Plisetsky and Yuuri Katsuki are about as different as cats and dogs, which is to say they have no reason of ever even being acquaintances. Through a stroke of luck, as well as a couple dozen cat pictures, a tight friendship blossoms instead. On their own each skater stands out just fine, but together they shine, pushing each other past previous limits and onto the golden road of victory.
Of course, there is still the living legend to worry about, but he's currently too besotted to lace up his skates, so...
Or: The Bathroom Scene™, but it goes a little differently. Just enough to that Yuri has a new friend and Victor stays in Russia, but manages to pine all the same.

Bookmarker's Notes
“It always happens,” Yuri says, helpless. “I can’t do anything. Everything goes wrong because I’m there.”
“That’s not true. Yura, you’ve changed my life.”
“I’ve ruined your life!”
“I was going to retire and you fixed that,” Yuuri says. Yuri freezes in his hold, mind going blank. “My nerves always got the best of me and you helped with that. I’m skating under Coach Yakov next year instead of being stagnant under Coach Celestino because you pushed me to make that decision. You have saved me, Yura, even if you don’t see it.”
Yuri continues to cry, trembles raking his body. Yuuri holds him in silence, combing a hand through his hair.
“I want to win with you,” Yuri whispers at last, throwing his arms around Yuuri’s neck. “Where would I be without you?”
“Win, Yura. Show them you can do it.”
Yuri shakes his head. “I’m showing you. I’m going to be in first, and win, and show you that there’s nothing to worry about. Then, you’re going to give them the best free skate they’ve ever seen.”
He doesn’t want to look away, eyes following every movement of the skater. It could be comparable to when he was younger, unable to even blink as he watched Victor bring life to the ice.
There’s a slight change in feeling, however. Whereas Yuuri had wanted to keep Victor’s performances to himself, to bottle and treasure each one like they were precious gems, he feels much more generous with Yuri’s. He wants to shout from the top of his lungs, to share with everybody how brilliant Yuri was.
Look at him go! He’s going to be the best one day, I just know it. Aren’t you proud?

Summary
???: why the fuck are you ignoring viktor
Yuuri: Who is this? What are you talking about?
???: its yuri dumbass and you know exactly what i'm talking about
Yuuri blinks at that. For a split second he wonders if an angrier asshole version of himself from an alternate universe, someone who spelled their name wrong and snubbed his nose at basic rules of grammar, had somehow found a way to pester him while he tried to prevent, by studying, at least one aspect of his life from crumbling into utter ruin. Then the split second passes and Yuuri reins in the insanity long enough to venture a rational approach.
Yuuri: Yuri who?
Three seconds later his phone rings.
*
Two weeks after his failure at Sochi, Yuuri receives a text from a mysterious number asking why the fuck he’s ignoring Viktor. So begins Yuri Plisetsky’s all out campaign to get Yuuri to finally text Viktor and end the torment of watching Viktor pine, and so begins Yuuri's descent into a wonderland of texting his idol, meeting his #1 fan(s), and slowly rebuilding his life with a little help from his friends.

Then he turns and faces Yuuri and, in the middle of the hotel lobby, he bows.
He bows to Yuuri.
Do you have any idea what senpai means?
There is no time for Yuuri to even begin processing this latest turn of events for, right then, Yuri speaks.
“I’m sorry for what I said. Now and before. It was shitty. I was shitty. To you and to Viktor. But especially to you because you’re- you’re the one who believes in me.”
You’re saying you respect me. To everyone. In public.
“You don’t even believe in yourself, but you believe in me. Even after what I said in Sochi, you think I can be better. A better skater and a better person. And when I fuck up, you don’t laugh at me or ignore me. You don’t think that’s just who I am. You don’t- You don’t wish that I could be someone else. You help me. You help me try to be better.”
You’re asking me to teach you, to help you, to guide you to become a better person.
Yuri lifts himself up then. He’s crying again, but the tears do nothing to diminish the ferocity of his expression, the determination that shines in his eyes as he looks at Yuuri and says, “So I’m going to be better. Because you don’t believe in yourself. You don’t think you can be a senpai. But you can, you are, so I’m going to prove it to you. You got that? I’m going to fucking prove it to you. And then you’ll have to believe it. You’ll have to believe you’re a senpai. You’ll have to believe in yourself. Because I do. And I guess he does too,” Yuri adds, waving a grudging hand at Viktor.
“I do!”
