    Kaneki had never been somebody who carried himself with an air of natural joy.

    Nature and nurture could battle it out all they liked for their percentage of the credit, but regardless of how their influence was distributed, the person existed all the same. It was pointless to contend with what-ifs or the different paths nurture could have taken; Kaneki was dealt the hand he got, and there were no reshuffles.

    An exploration of the limits of what Hide can do in the face of Kaneki's difficult circumstances and tragedies. While existence in itself may not ever provide Kaneki with a dream state of happiness, Hide can still be there as Kaneki chooses to continue living.
