Summary
In all honesty, Alastor had no clue what compelled him to leave yet another gift? offering? sacrifice? at Lucifer’s door. The previous ones he had left were not there when he later checked, so at least the short fool was accepting the silent olive branch of sorts. At least, that’s what Alastor chalked it up to, since the Princess wanted them to at least be on non-property-damaging terms.
This time, the not-gift-offering-branch is in the form of a dead duck. Lucifer liked ducks, for whatever reason, and perhaps this would suffice. He had accepted the deer Alastor had presented a couple days ago, too — a high quality sample he had specially ordered in addition to his own breakfast.

Summary
Hell was not known for its kindness. Torture was something one could purchase as easily as if it were a necessity, and some might argue that it was. There were all kinds of cruelties available for a sinner inclined towards seeking them out, but Alastor did not need to go in search of suffering.
That was something he could manage all on his own, his frustration mounting as his skin crawled, his nerves squirming under his skin in silent protest as he pulled away from Lucifer's touch.
*
Or: Alastor's mind is perfectly fine with Lucifer touching him. His body, tonight, is not. They are at an impasse - unless they can figure out a solution. Or unless a certain shadowy imitation of Alastor can figure out a solution.

Summary
In the remains of Vox's divine weapon, Lucifer appeared nearly forgotten. However, it was the most unexpected of sinners—equally injured and battered—who reached out a hand and pulled him from the wreckage.
The Demon’s hand lingered—a disconcertingly warm weight on the King's upper arm—waiting to ensure Lucifer was steady on legs that felt like crumbling stone. The foreign, sustained contact made Lucifer’s skin prickle, but it was not the expected nausea of disgust. To his utter horror, deep in the marrow of his bone-deep exhaustion, he found himself profoundly relieved to feel the slightest bit of a comforting, steadying presence—a touch that was not administered in pain or malice. He had been utterly alone in the wreckage, surrounded only by the ghosts of his own inadequate power, and now the unlikeliest of sinners was showing the rarest, most forbidden form of basic consideration.
“Careful, Bambi,” Lucifer murmured, the nickname laced with a dry, venomous sting. “Someone might actually start to think you have a heart."

Summary
Without Rosie's deal assuring him his status in hell, Alastor turns his attention to the one in charge. Eternity was a long time, and he wouldn't risk spending it any lower than what he deemed suitable. He just had to convince the fool of a king to go along with it.
