“I did,” she said quietly, and it hurt her to already be talking about it in the past tense.
“Then how could you do this to her? How could you stand here and pretend like you didn’t murder her?”
Nancy almost laughed. Because wasn't that the question? How do you look at the person you love and still choose the world over them? How do you tell yourself it's necessary? How do you live with it afterward?

Of all the new jobs that Starcourt offered Hawkins, Robin figured this one had to be, by far, the shittiest.
Maybe she was biased, but it didn’t exactly help that her arms were sore from scooping overly frozen ice cream, and flipping off ungrateful customers. And, out of all of Hawkins, she ended up getting stuck with Nancy Wheeler, priss of all prisses.The sound of the bell being exploited breaks her free from her train of thoughts. Nancy’s obnoxious younger brother and his merry band of shitheads are standing behind the counter expectedly.
