Summary
It's a well known fact that the prince's servant is one of the most well liked people in all of Camelot. Many merchants give him free food, most of the knights treat him as a brother, an the other servants often help him with his chores. Even visiting family's have on more than one occasion tried to hire them for their own staff. It's safe to assume that everyone in the kingdom knows, and likes Merlin. What most people don't know, is that the courtesy he commonly receives extends far beyond the walls of Camelot. Very far in fact.
And his friends are about to find out just how much influence he has on people, even the ones who are supposed to hate him.
"I- I struggle to find time to sleep." Merlin says
"So you pay slavers to kidnap you?" Arthur asks
"No, uh not quite." He shakes his head. "They're- I don't know, they're nice."
"Nice?" The king repeats. "They sell people!"
"Actually they don't." Merlin corrects. "I convinced them it was unethical so now they're sort of like bounty hunters."

Summary
When a feast slows down to just a few people the knights decide to play a game and despite his exhausted protests manage to get Merlin to join in for a bit of fun. Well, fun for him.
------------
Merlin paused, looking around the table, his gaze landing on the knight across from him. "I tried to kill Arthur multiple times, and Leon knowingly assisted me..." he then looked to the king. "...Arthur killed my druid girlfriend; but it's okay because I still see her from time to time when she appears in the surface of water, and oh, yeah, I have magic." He leaned back, finishing the wine in his cup as he watched everyone stare at him. "What?" Merlin asked with a shrug. "You wanted me to keep it interesting."Bookmarked by Processpending

Summary
One evening around a campfire, a well meant gesture leads to some startling revelations about Merlin's physical and mental pain.
-------
Arthur's features soften, his anger tempered by a mix of guilt and concern. He takes a step closer to Merlin, his voice gentle now. "I didn't know," he says quietly, his eyes filled with regret.
"No," Merlin says, his voice tinged with disappointment. "But you should have. We spend sixteen hours a day together, and yet you never saw through my obviously fake laughs. Just one simple question about my well-being, and I would have admitted everything. It wouldn't have taken much."
"I'm sorry," Arthur responds, his voice filled with regret.
"Sorry doesn't always wash away the tears or the blood, Arthur," Merlin replies, his tone heavy with resignation. "I'm better now," he adds somberly, surrendering whatever fight he had left. "And it's not because of you, or Gwen, or the knights. It's because of me. I was all I had, so I had to be enough."

Summary
It was over. Arthur was here. The Lamia was slain. Gwen was alright. The knights would be back to normal. It was over.
Able to relax for the first time in days, he let his knees buckle and his back slide down the wall. He hit the ground, and his vision turned to mist.
Merlin didn't make it out of his encounter with the Lamia unscathed, or so Arthur thinks when he slays the beast and finds Merlin slumped against the wall and bleeding. When he learns the true source of Merlin's injuries he is furious. He does his best to push that anger away though, because being there for Merlin matters far more right now.

Summary
Merlin was many things. Shy was not one of them.
It was hard to think of someone as shy when they wore torn clothes to battle instead of armor.
Even harder when said person decided he was above status and royalty and could just insult them as he pleased.
A man who happened to be the physicians apprentice and therefore could not afford to be shy.
Never someone this brave, this trusting and naive.Series
