    Summary

After his death at the first siege of the Burial Mounds, Wei Wuxian is thrown back in time to when he was nine years old, just before Jiang Fengmian took him to Lotus Pier with its wavering affection and unpayable mountain of debts. He decides to take the second chance he has been offered, to live freely and without regrets.

As it turns out, a life without regrets involves:
    1. Avoiding all attempts to be adopted so you can launch your career as a rogue-cultivating-assassin, while
    2. Juggling a hit-list comprised of the cultivation world’s Who’s Who, and
    3. Desperately missing your not-boyfriend who picked the worst ever timing to confess his undying love for you.

    Murder and mayhem to follow.

    Summary

Jiang Cheng seethes, gripping the bridge of his nose. “I don’t know how to help you,” he admits, “so I’m sending you to the people that do.”

It nearly slips out then, the truth of the matter. Wei Wuxian opens his mouth to snap back ‘There’s no helping me, not now!’ but the words stick in his throat. Shijie is crying and Jiang Cheng is defiant and Lan Zhan is staring at him so earnestly that Wei Wuxian simply doesn’t know how to tell them all that he’s living on borrowed time.

    So he doesn’t.

    ---

At the behest of his siblings, Wei Wuxian is sent to Gusu to recover from the strain of the Sunshot Campaign.

If only he knew how to do that.

    Summary

Wen Qing is far too valuable to execute, so Jin Guangyao tucks her away in a prison cell so he can use her medical skill and force her to help interpret Wei Wuxian's work.

This would be a long game. A game of each of them trusting the other with small pieces of information, with the healing of hurts from her to him and the giving of gifts from him to her. He would make it seem like he wasn’t so bad. Give her what she needed to be comfortable in this prison. Gain her sympathy by showing her the injuries he received from the people around him. Manipulate her into thinking his kindness meant something.

It didn’t, and she vowed she would never forget that.

    Summary

the golden core procedure goes wrong, leaving both Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian coreless and thrown into the Burial Mounds together

Wei Wuxian managed to sit up. It hurt, but he didn’t feel as light-headed as he had earlier. He looked at his brother, and despite his best efforts, their eyes met. He saw anger and pain and grief, but in that moment there was also a grim understanding. Wei Wuxian hauled himself out of bed and said, “Wen Qing, take your brother and leave through the back. Jiang Cheng and I will stall them.”

“What? No!” Wen Ning protested. “You’re in no shape to - ”

“It doesn’t matter,” Wei Wuxian said. “We’re useless now. We can’t avenge our family. We can’t protect our sister. We can’t do much of anything, but we can buy a few minutes for the two of you to get out of here.”

    Summary

Years after Nie Mingjue’s death, Nie Huaisang goes back in time to prevent it from happening by killing Meng Yao before he can become a monster. Nothing goes as planned.

Nie Huaisang gave a heavy sigh. None of it excused the things Jin Guangyao had done. None of it would make him forgive his brother’s death.

But did it have to be that way? This was a child. A child who was crying in the night, on the cold stone he had as a bed, because someone he looked up to had hurt him. How could he blame him for what he had become? How could he say that this boy deserved death? Who was he to make that judgment?

Could he save both his brothers?

Or: Nie Huaisang accidentally adopts a bunch of chaos gremlins.
