The first time it happens Gon isn’t entirely aware of what the ‘it’ in question is. Because, well, Gon’s never really felt anything like it before. There’s a pressure in his chest, a nauseous churning of his stomach, a hot burn of anger in his heart.
And he can’t get the image of Zushi and Killua out of his head.

When Gon first meets Killua, he’s drunk and stumbling through some party Zushi dragged him to after losing the match. He doesn’t know what bar he’s in, what time it is, or how he got there. He doesn’t even know Killua’s name when he challenges him to a fight. All he knows is the white haired guy is wearing the opposing team’s colors—
And then Gon is on the ground.

Summary
Killua used to dream about Gon.
He used to think Gon would show up at the mansion, unannounced and tossing rocks at his window. Or maybe Killua would answer the phone and it would be Gon’s voice crying to him through the static, swearing the second he found Ging was the moment he realized all he ever really wanted was Killua.
But it never happened.
Gon never came to Killua’s rescue. He never called or sent a text. He never reached out to Killua at all. And so Killua gave up. He forced himself to stop thinking about Gon. And even if he wasn’t exactly happy, he was at more peace because of it.
Fate, however, seemed to enjoy torturing Killua. Because after years of pretending he’d never heard of the name Gon Freecss, the man himself appeared in front of Killua like some sort of fever dream. But Killua knew it wasn’t a dream, because he gave up on dreams once he realized they never came true. So this person in front of him must be the real and true Gon Freecss.
Just the sight of him made Killua want to throw up.

Summary
Gon sucks in a shuddering breath. His heart pounds, hard and insistent, as if he was still face-to-face with the Chimera Ant. He doesn’t understand how they escaped. Not when the enemy was hundreds, no, thousands of times stronger than any of them could have ever predicted.

Summary
The hardest part would be slipping Gon the poison.
That was the single thought running through Killua’s mind as the three of them left the King of Heart’s garden. Killua knew the poison would be the toughest challenge because Gon was Wonderland. He’d long ago stopped needing to drink or eat anything, or so he’d proudly told Killua.
But he would need to drink this because without it, Killua and Alluka wouldn’t stand a chance. They wouldn’t make it back to the tunnel where they first fell down, they wouldn’t ever return to normal life again. Because even after all these years Killua still knew Gon, knew him better than anyone, and Gon wouldn’t let him go.
So Gon had to drink the poison. The only question was how.
