There’s a hand on Scott’s arm, making him still. He can smell the way the scent blends with his own, familiar. As settling as it is dangerous right now, with his whole body flushed and warm. He knows the professor is talking, and he can see his mouth moving, but he can’t hear a word that’s coming out of his mouth, his head a rush of chemicals. He can hear his heart beating, can hear every movement of the alpha next to him.

Summary
After wandering his way through three connected rooms full of sprawling, bright green plants, Scott starts to get nervous. He wonders if this is actually where he should be, or if he should have emailed ahead to schedule an appointment. He doesn’t even know if the greenhouses have their own email; they probably do. Most places in the university have their own email, whether they actually choose to use it or not.
Scott is ducking under a plant whose branches cut across the path when he hears the rustling of leaves from behind him.
“Can I help you?” a gruff voice asks.

This time, at least, that deep-body itch that started in the space between his hipbones didn’t line up with finals week. This time he knew what was happening. This time, there was enough space in the timing for him to believe there might be a chance for him to pull his grades out of the tailspin this week was undoubtedly going to send them into.
After all, at this point, he was all too aware of what this next week was going to be like.
