“Yeah, I figured that part out. Why the ever loving fuck was Riddle there?” Kicking the tangled blankets from his legs, the boy began pacing around the room, hands still worrying his hair.
“I did say Fate would have your souls touch in this world.” The shadows blandly answered.
“Yeah, okay, some more soul bullshit, cool- but, why was Riddle there?” He threw his hands in the air in exasperation.
“Because you have twin souls.” Death said matter of factly, finally forming a figure out of the dark shadows.
“Excuse me? Twin souls? Like soulmate shit or something?”
Death tilted its approximation of a head. “Yes, I suppose soulmate would be an appropriate term.”

There’s something right, somehow, about him having this diary, like finding an important possession you never noticed was missing until it’s found again, and maybe it’s a little weird but— but it’s magic, too, and Harry is still twelve and magic is still, well, magical.

Summary
Hermione must scramble to survive when, at twenty-six, she finds herself in 1953 due to an ill-fated run in with an egg timer. Being the type of witch who can't help but attract attention, it doesn't take long for Hermione to find herself in the midst of pureblood society in post-war Britain, right as Tom Riddle is deciding how, exactly, he plans to pursue his magical domination. He's felt a bit stagnant the last few years, and had thought of traveling east soon, but ever since she showed up at Borgin and Burke's, Tom's plans have all twisted to somehow require her presence by his side. The only problem? Hermione has rules of her own, and she's an infamous stickler for those.
