Things were finally looking up for Libby and me. We moved to Texas – far, far away from Libby’s abusive ex-boyfriend in Connecticut. Libby’s online cupcake business was gradually growing. We’d got ourselves a small flat with two bedrooms, and I have a scholarship to one of the best high schools in America – the high school Xander Hawthorne goes to. (He’s proclaimed himself my “best Hawthorne friend forever”, even though I only know one Hawthorne.)
