He watches Sam’s finger point to the written words, “Dean still hardly talks,”.
A few beats of silence pass—nothing out of the ordinary, at this point.
“...Is this what’s happening?” Sam asks gently, implementing that tone of voice that always seems to remind Dean with a heart clenched in nostalgia that his brother is not a little boy anymore, but rather is now a grown man with an impressive emotional maturity.
(TLDR: Dean Winchester and selective mutism: told throughout different stages of his life now that it has come back in full-force yet again after losing Cas to the Empty. Angst, hurt/comfort, and most importantly: happy ending.)

Sam leaves for Stanford and Dean finds it harder and harder to find his way, after a lifetime of finding purpose in looking out for his brother. He hears from dad less and less and without Sam at his side, the world no longer makes sense. Without Sam to speak to, Dean finds himself no longer speaking at all.

Summary
The creepy house on the corner has been abandoned for years, everyone says. It's ramshackle and decrepit, the yard overgrown, the wrought iron fence bent and broken in some places. The adults in the neighborhood have asked the city to do something about that eyesore for so long, but the city insists that someone is paying property taxes on the house, therefore they cannot do anything about it.
So, everyone ignores it and pretends it doesn't exist. They definitely don't go anywhere near it, either.
Dean, though.
Dean is drawn to it as if by gravity.
Little by little, Dean repairs what he can. The monster inside the house ain't so bad, either.

Original prompt: something Russian Bratva related? Like Cas is the prince or whatever of this organization and Dean is forced to marry him because of an arrangement between their families. Only Dean is eighteen and very independent, he doesn't want to be anyone's pet to stay at home. Cas is older. So they end up married but even if Dean is all "no, I don't want this, I don't need anyone, leave me alone, I hate you" he can't resist Cas because he's hot and brilliant. And Cas can't resist Dean because he's just like that and drives him crazy because he's a feisty brat

The one where Dean can’t believe his fucking life and Cas, in turn, can’t believe his luck.
