Dream feels a pit form in his stomach. It clashes with the warmth that had been growing in his chest and makes him feel queasy.
"Oh yeah?" He's barely able to keep the strain out of his voice. The dragon's eyes shine again, like bright stars in a fog that Dream hadn't even noticed has been shrouding his vision.
"I'm Tommy."
Tommy. his head repeats, turning it round and round as if he could find all the secrets hidden within it. Tommy. Tommy. Tommy. It's strangely human. (It suits him.)
"Call me Clay."

Summary
As he stands in the foyer of his apartment, with a three year old child resting in his arms, staring at the ground, he wonders what the hell did he just do?
A part of Techno, when he impulsively started the adoption process late one night, didn’t even think he was going to pass. There was a lot he would need to do, a lot of qualifications people would need to check, and surely something in there wouldn’t be good, right? Surely whatever inside him persuaded him to complete the online application and send it in would be squashed when he didn’t pass, right?
Wrong. Well- at least the second part is wrong, because he passed. With flying colors. Apparently his apartment just needed to be child-proofed, with outlet covers and whatnot; and despite being a Minecraft Youtuber, his financial situation is steady; and he’s never even gotten a speeding ticket, so his legal records are all spotless.
And now he has a kid.
… Someone at the California Adoption Agency is going to get fired for this.
Or: Techno adopts an orphan because of a joke tweet, and it ends up being the best decision of his life
