Summary
There was a plan, if Lucas remembers correctly. Rescue the kids. Kill Vecna. Save the world. Done, done, and done.
And then there was another thing. A closing bullet point on the to-do list. He hasn’t stopped thinking about it. If anything, he’s thought more and more about it every second. To the point where it’s almost debilitating.
Like, there was a larger question, which is, Does Lucas Sinclair like boys, and while it’s hard to say for certain, the answer is really skewing yes lately. Everywhere he looks he’s noticing guys like they’re a brand-new species. It turns out Steve is hot, if you can get past the part where he’s basically been their glorified babysitter for several years. Dustin’s alright, but the mullet works against him as much as Mike getting rid of the mullet is working for him. Mostly, these are passing observations. Acknowledged and then dismissed. Whatever. Lucas thinks guys are hot now. Or always did and never noticed.
But there’s also a much narrower, more precise question, tapering off like an arrowhead, pointing directly at Will.

Will shakes his head. “No, I mean. I mean I— I do like girls, just not like you. Not like that. I mean.” He groans, frustrated. “It’s not just that I don’t like girls—”
“You like…boys?” Lucas offers, and Will’s head snaps up in surprise. “Um, not to step on your moment, and I’m proud of you and all, but…Will, I already knew that.”
“You— you knew?”
“C’mon, man, you’re one of my best friends. Yeah, I knew,” Lucas says. Relief hits his bloodstream like a drug—of all the somethings, this is the best possible outcome. “You like Mike, right?”
Will stammers, jaw dropping. “Wh— what? No! I don’t— I don’t like Mike. I mean I…I did, I used to, but I don’t anymore. I swear.”
“Dude, it’s cool,” Lucas says slowly. He smirks. “I mean, I don’t get why you’d go for Mike when you have a much better option right here—” He does a gratuitous shimmy, and Wills snorts a laugh, “But I guess there’s no accounting for taste.”

Summary
Will wrote many letters to Mike Wheeler while he was in California. However, due to a mix-up during the Byers' move back to Hawkins, one of their letters – a love confession filled with anger and frustration, written in the throes of teenage rage over unrequited love – ends up being sent to its recipient without their knowledge. The letter, however, gets lost in the mail, arriving in Hawkins years later, on an inauspicious afternoon for the miserable Will Byers, who freezes as he stares at his best friend approaching with his lost love letter in his hands.
In a fit of despair, Will makes a rash decision to avoid a conversation he definitely didn't want to have: he kisses the first person he sees.
Who ends up being Chance Lawson.
