Summary
When Michael refuses to answer again, Adam busies himself wiping grease off his fingers with a thin napkin. The silence stretches. Michael is seemingly attempting to bore a hole into the vinyl tablecloth with just his eyes and no powers. It’s incredibly juvenile; Adam can remember doing the same thing when sitting down for lunch after the yearly baseball game with John. But he can be patient. Sometimes, Michael really does have the emotional maturity of a fifteen year old. It comes with the territory of a timeless being only realizing that he does, in fact, have a solid range of emotions within the last couple hundred years.
It’s when Adam’s fingers are clean and dry and he folds them neatly across the tabletop that Michael gives up trying to commit arson with his eyes. “I can… feel Him,” he confesses, not quite looking up.
“Your dad?” Adam asks, because who else?
