Everyone knew they were forever rivals. Everyone knew that Zoro had surrendered one of his three earrings as a promise to Sanji, and that he kept it in his own lobe for safekeeping.
There was still something that Zoro lacked, a part of his dream that was never told.

“Come on, shit-cook,” Zoro taunts, a subtle, desperate edge staining his inflection, sporting a shit-eating grin that only irritates Sanji further. “Take another step forward. I dare you.”
“You’re being a fucking nuisance, at this point,” Sanji scoffs. “Drop your sword.”
And there it is again—like a gush of cool air to his heated skin, like melted gold settling on the tip of his tongue.
He looks at Sanji with his eye widened as warmth spreads throughout his body in a way that can only be described as unforgiving because it’s just too much to bear—the thought of waiting for something that never comes because he can’t bring himself to say what it is that he really wants.
And what Zoro wants is—
“I said drop your sword,” Sanji repeats, smiling when Enma slips from Zoro’s loosened grip. “Yeah. Just like that.”
