Summary
Sal screamed so loudly that it hurt Travis’s ears and echoed in his head for several minutes after it had finished. The sound was unlike anything he’d ever heard on TV, unlike anything he’d ever made when his father beat him. It was visceral, primal. Filled with the most basic of instinct from any living thing: fear. A kind of it that was so deep, it lacerated Sal’s vocal cords as it tore through his stomach and out of his throat, loud enough to reach heaven, desperate enough to be a prayer.
It was the sound of death.

Don’t get him wrong, therapy was a good thing. A healthy thing! A perfectly normal, fine thing. But he didn’t want to be doing it. He was only really here because Tide told him if he did it then it would help convince Vyncent and Dakota to do it, and they definitely needed it. So here he was, sitting in a comfortable armchair in a therapist's office, trying to avoid eye contact with the woman who sat across from him.

Summary
That didn't stop him from anxiously wondering why. He couldn't stop thinking about Edyn, what she might have said to that Navy officer. What the officer had said to her. Why she couldn't tell him any of it, or what they were doing to keep her so constantly terrified. He also kept thinking of something far far stupider, way less important, and certainly nowhere near what he should be focusing on.
How he'd sworn that if he won the duel, Chip could never date his sister. And how he had won. And how knowing that was on the line he had fought so much harder.
