It was his only tether back to Yingxing, the only thing that kept him safe throughout the years. It even protected him from its maker, a sin that Dan Heng will never be able to forgive himself for.
Cloud-Piercer and his bracer are the two things that plays a visceral role in allowing Dan Heng to remember his past. Cloud-Piercer is the one thing he holds dearly to his heart, the one thing he promised himself he’ll always take good care of. The bracer on his forearm burns as he goes through an intense grief, his fingers digging into his ribs at how anguished his chest is. He approaches the blade of Cloud-Piercer, his hands violently shaking as he drops to his knees with a loud thud. He pries it out of the ground, the glow of ‘Dan’ still shining brilliantly in the dark.
