    *NEW CHAPTER ADDED/EDITED - Chapters 6 & 7 - Perfect Day for a Picnic & Stop and Settle Down

    Each chapter was written so they can be read as a standalone or read together to tell an entire story. This story was originally written in 2014 and completed in 2020.

    This follows MSR beginning with "The End" in season five all the way until post season 11. It is canon compliant. The continuity in the storylines always bothered me, MSR deserved more than to become an x-file. This is a result of that nagging and a labor of love.

    This story is part of a larger series (titled Rooted in Friendship) that begins pre-season 1 and covers every episode of the X-Files up to Season 11 and then beyond into its own universe.

    Written with MustangSally, who is not yet on the archive.

    Painted across the barren and desolate reaches of Texas, the shadows of the Project put additional pressure on Scully and Mulder's already fragile relationship. After a hostage crisis raises more questions about the Project's breeding program, Scully begins her own investigation, leaving Mulder to choose between saving her and saving himself. Finally, the investigation leads to tragedy and Mulder and Scully find that more questions have been asked than answered.

    The title reference was to an island mentioned in Medea, to which we turned for fairly obvious reasons.

    Take the warning seriously: extreme violence, including the death of children.

    After Scully tells Mulder she’s pregnant at the end of season 11, then what? How does Mulder react to the news there’s a baby on the way? When and how did Scully first learn about the blessed event? Was the baby conceived naturally or is it part of an insidious plot, like William? What exactly did Skinner tell Scully about William’s conception? What’s on our heroes’ minds as the pregnancy progresses? Is Mulder able to be there for the child’s birth this time?

    CC left us with a whole lot of unanswered questions after My Struggle IV. Time to fill in those blanks.
