Zuko turned his head. "There's someone else in there! We have to do something!" he shouted over the roar of the flames.
His colleague Jet grabbed him by the arm. "Zuko, it's too late! We can't go back in there—the smoke will kill us!".
"How can you say that?!" he snapped angry.
Jet pointed at the inferno, his eyes wide: "Look at the fire! If you go in there, you'll never come out!".
Zuko breathed heavily but his gaze was determined. "Then so be it. I'm going."
"Zuko, NO!" several voices shouted at once as he started to run.
The flames lashed out at him like a living monster. The heat pressed against his skin. This is madness. But there's someone in there. And if he gives up now, they'll die.

Above the motel, the streetlights bathed the parking lot in a warm yellow hue, dulling the wind's bite blowing off the prairie. This wasn't the first time Dean had ended up in the middle of buttfuck nowhere responsible for more that could be asked of him; the sign leading into town read 'A Great Place to Live' in weather-worn paint. Looking at the greasy tinted glass of the front office, Dean had a hard time believing that.
