Summary
At first, the dreams are little more than a blip in his sleep, flashes that have a familiar unease that settles over his chest until he slips back into slumber. Easy to forget.
Until they aren't.
The nights pass and the images sharpen; the gun is pointed at Fadel, the bars become a cage and the blood spills too red, too fast. Helpless in the cage, Style is forced to watch as his lover is taken from him, night after night. Sometimes it's death; at Lilly's hands, or Christ's. Sometimes it's a sacrifice: Fadel's life for his. Sometimes he's taken back into custody, or Style's Pa sends him away. And sometimes, it's Fadel himself, tired of Style and walking away. The result is always the same: Style is left alone.
In which Style hasn't dealt with the past as well as he'd thought, Fadel knows that something is wrong, and everything takes its toll.
