Summary
Learning German was supposed to be a simple chore by NERV, just another test to study for. But for Shinji Ikari, it becomes something else entirely.
After a humiliating exchange with Asuka, he begins to wish that he could be braver, louder, more like her. Shinji falls into frustration, daydreaming about the things he could have said, but didn't. With Asuka out and Misato busy though, Shinji finds himself alone. After a stray impulse to clean Asuka's room, Shinji finds a pair of bright red interface clips, and a sudden, breathless urge to see himself differently.

Ochako is 15, and there is dirt beneath her pink nails. There is red splattered on the marble tiles of the hospital, and Himiko looks most like herself when she has blood on her face. Himiko’s lips taste like blood. They taste like freedom, too.
She wonders what it says about her to enjoy it, even with Himiko’s fingers stained with blood cradling her waist. Ochako wonders what it says about her morals that she enjoys this, knowing who she is pretending to be.
Himiko looks most like herself when she has blood on her face, Ochako notices. Like a bird whose wings were tied together too long, only now setting her pretty wings free. Only now having a taste of peace.
(The story where Ochako Uraraka loves Himiko Toga, and sometimes that love makes her do bad things.)

Easily one of my favorite togachako oneshots. It's divine, heavenly, grotesque--the author has such a poetic, flowery way of describing their takes on the characters and their beautifully sweet, codependent relationship. Delicious yuri.

Summary
Taking a shortcut through a children's park to avoid U.A's security force with one of Japan's most wanted villains while carrying trash bags full of stolen museum artifacts wasn't exactly how Ochako suspected her Wednesday evening to go.
Yet there she was, leaning against a tree in the forest beside Toga, black bags littered around them like a failed community service project.

As of 3/4/25 a rewrite of Villainous has begun. Original will not be changed or deleted; rewrite will be a new fic.

Villainous is a classic as far as TogaChako fics go. It's one of the first I really sat down and read, way back before I had an account on AO3. As far as I'm concerned, it's a classic--and I have a huge soft spot for it. It's the kind of fic I like to sit down and read on a rainy day when I don't have work
I think my only issue with it isn't really an issue? It's very 2023, and that's not a good or bad thing--it just has its own flavor, the prose is a bit Tumblr-y. That's not a bad thing, it's fun--my icon here is probably going to eternally be the default Tumblr icon forever--but it's an acquired taste and probably not for everyone. I want to think I'm a fandom oldhead, so this kind of thing doesn't bother me. Regardless it's very much a wish fulfillment kind of fic, and I enjoy that a lot. I think there's fics that go more into the dynamic, and if I could want anything from Villainous it's to have been able to get deeper into the characters and their motivations.
It's very fun to watch Ochako's morals degrade as she falls into a life of crime, but it happens kind of fast and almost brushes past itself. You go from trespassing to murder in what feels like minutes, and I never feel like it really gives her decisions and her choice to fall into moral bankruptcy the weight it deserves. Maybe I just like writing angst? Probably, but I think a version of Villainous that gives more weight to its choices would have been more satisfying. Still, not everything needs to be meaty. A fun crime dramedy with lesbians and a bit of wish fulfillment is still great, and exactly the reason I come back to AO3 over and over again.
So yeah, cute fic! I'm excited to see the rewrite whenever it comes out.

Summary
They told Ochaco Uraraka that heroes save people.
She learned instead that help only comes after the damage is done. When no one comes for Himiko Toga, Ochaco decides she will. Even if it means crossing every line hero society refuses to question.
If saving Himiko makes her a villian, then so be it.
OR
A canon adjacent fic where Toga and Uraraka become childhood friends. But make it really, really sad.
