Summary
Blinking furiously, the silhouette behind him came into focus, and he stopped moving completely as Simon joined him at the bottom of the stairs, slightly out of breath.
They stood a few feet apart and gazed at each other for a few horrible, agonizing moments.
“I’m just trying to move on,” Simon confessed.
“I see that,” Wilhelm replied, his heart aching in his chest.
Simon looked away, seemingly bracing himself before he pushed himself forward, far closer than any platonic friend should be. Wilhelm’s breath caught as his eyes instinctively focused on Simon’s lips, only inches away from his own.
“Everything just went wrong between us,” Simon grieved, frustration and devastation mixing into outright anguish, and a small hope tugged at Wilhelm.
So, it hadn’t been one-sided – but where did that leave them now?
“I know,” Wilhelm agreed, swallowing hard.
Tension surrounded both as they were seemingly pulled together by an invisible string; simultaneously, their heads tilted toward each other, and Wilhelm couldn’t help but trace his nose against Simon’s, trying and failing to convince himself to step away.Bookmarked by SimonsandStars
