Caine decides to expand on that "leave adventures open" idea that Zooble had. Even better- "internal surveys" have informed him of exactly what the Circus needs- a romantic date setting! Now, he just seems some guidance in the 'human emotion' department!
Or, Caine takes a clinically unaware Zooble on a date while the two try to get better at understanding eachother.

2. A robot must obey the orders given to it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
We all know that Caine is loosely based on Am from 'I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream', but what if he was also based on Robbie, Speedy, Cutie, and Nestor from Isaac Asimov's 'I, Robot' novel. This is a character study of a conflict between code and emotion. What I think could be a realistic reason for Caine to abstract.
