Summary
Charles thinks of most relationships in his life as a part of his own makeshift universe. Himself as Mercury – warm and alight and a direct embodiment of the character of the Sun, of Ferrari, of his legacy. He has so much to prove. So much to do. Too small a mind, a body, a soul, to be able to truly exude the mass of such a team and future and past.
He wonders, sometimes, about how the first planet to be decimated, go entirely frozen, should the Sun die, is Mercury.
He knows his hands are cold.
He wonders if he’s already half-way there.

Summary
Charles is in love with two men.
One of them is his driver.
The other is a Tumblr meme blogger.
And, tragically, both are unattainable.
Which is fine, really. Charles thrives in emotional chaos. His therapist once said he was addicted to suffering. She then quit mid-session and told him she didn’t get paid enough for this.

Summary
They didn’t really lose, Charles supposes; not in the traditional sense. There was destruction, but there almost always is. They lost a jaeger, but no pilots. They killed another kaiju. Not a perfect day, perhaps, but a victory in the broader pattern of war.
It doesn’t feel like victory.
