It wasn't like you were stupid. No, you dotted your i's and crossed your t's and did all the shit that a citizen of a shit hole like Gotham City did. You carried a taser, kept out of alleys, travelled with a companion.
And it had kept you (relatively) untraumatized for the entirety of the 21 years of your existence. Sure, you'd seen some gruesome things, but that was normal. You weren't the type that made a stupid decision and got screwed over. You were smart.
Of course, that flew out the window with the goddamn Red Hood of all people. You had to be stupid with him.

Summary
There was no way to know that they existed - the group known as the Four Horsemen.
They kept themselves hidden, stayed underground and covered their tracks by using one of their members to wipe any digital trace of them away. Dr Cressida Stiel. Pestilence. The Ghost of Princeton.
In 2005 she was supposed to have died in a fire. A body left behind in the ash to cover her disappearance. Then in 2006 the FBI was hacked, almost no trace was left except for a message on Dr Spencer Reid’s computer. A message of disjointed words, ending with ‘help’. It wasn’t until a few months later that he found out that it was Cressida.
And that she wasn’t a Horseman by choice.
Six years after her faked death she runs to the FBI, turning herself in for questioning. But when you have lived years in fear and anxiety, it makes it difficult to trust others. Even when the team tries to sway her to help, the only person she can open up to is Reid.
But what will happen after the three remaining Horsemen are caught?
If they are ever caught?

Summary
Beck has had her life planned for her whether she liked it or not... But for some reason it all just keeps going to shit. Maybe it has something to do with her ability to kill a full grown man with a paperclip and snipe a grape inside a shot glass from nearly 6 miles away. But, hey, the cute Doctor at the BAU that doesn't know how to carry his Revolver seems to tolerate her.
