But she’s been following him for weeks and he thinks that he’s owed an explanation, at least. And a real one, not something that’s easy to swallow but has no truth in it.
“The truth is,” she says eventually, “that you – uh. Well.”
She sighs. And then, like a miracle, opens her eyes and looks at him.
