Only an iconostasis of interminable carnage remains, palimpsested in putrid ichor. Nothing more than a defiled grave field, where morality lies annulled, and kindness haemorrhages beneath the indifferent cadence of the Song.
Following this first verdict, there is another known by all, be they the cattle throng groveling in the sands of Creation or the profane gods enthroned between the endless boughs of the Madness Below.
This nightmare shall never know an end.
Thus, life lingers, forever entrapped in an age of cruelty, its misery wrought as tribute to the Eight begotten of the Song.

Summary
Almost half a century has gone by since the Water Empire eradicated the Fire Nation and the Avatar disappeared, but Willow, living in an Earth Kingdom city not yet touched by the war, has more imminent problems, like how she can't seem to succeed at earthebending anything bigger than a peeble. When in frustration she ends up earthbending her way to an old statue of a firebender, though, her previous problems lose a lot of importance.
Meanwhile, in the Water Empire, Emperor Belos feels the Avatar's firebending and sends his nephew on a mission to capture her. Unbeknownst to Hunter, though, the Avatar is just a fourteen-year-old girl named Luz who can barely control two of the four elements.
