Silco hardly recognizes his daughter these days.
Her physical transformation alone still startles him from time to time. Her skin, always fair, is now so pale that he can see the veins around her eyes. He remembers when the grey of her childhood gave way to a bluer shade, ocean deep. That blue was stolen by the shimmer transfusion she suffered through—suffering that he'd inflicted on her as much as the doctor had—leaving this shining purple in its place.
She’s still beautiful, still perfect, still Jinx… but no longer his Jinx.

Jinx looked up at Sevika, then down at her wounded hand. “It doesn’t bleed anymore. Still can’t move it right, though.” Her expression shifted as a thought seemed to cross her mind, her lips twisting into a sneer. She looked at Sevika head-on. “If you hadn’t blown the place to smithereens, maybe I could’ve salvaged it.”
Jinx’s words took a second too long to sink in, and Sevika scowled in disgust when they finally did. “What the hell for?”
Jinx shrugged and extended her arm, wiggling its four remaining digits like some alien, void-spat creature. “Could’ve tried stapling it back on.”
“If I hadn’t blown the place to smithereens, you’d be dead.”
