“Well,” Hikaru rasped with a fucked-out voice, “it’s an acquired taste, and I’ve lost the acquisition.”
Magnus kicked him in the shins. “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” he said with a smirk.
“...What?”
“The taste of come is in the palate of the–” he waved his hand, “the– fucking hell. I don’t know. Nevermind.”

His eyes snapped open. He tilted his head up slightly to look—white shirt, slacks, barely tamed hair.
“Hey,” Magnus greeted him with a smile, voice seemingly steady.
Their gazes met.
Hikaru froze. There was a long silence before Magnus took a deep breath and dropped into the seat, burying his face in his hands.
They never were good at pretense.
“What year is it?” Magnus asked into his palms, the words cracking.
“2025,” Hikaru murmured.
Magnus laughed, soft and incredulous. “2025,” he repeated.
